Our Church School

St Peter’s is a Voluntary Aided Church of England School attached to the Parish Church of St Peter’s in Darwen. As a Christian family at St Peter’s School, we create a unique place of learning, nurturing the gifts that God in his awesomeness has given us. We encourage every child and prepare them for life’s journey, inspiring them to fulfil their potential, their dreams and their aspirations.

Headteacher's Welcome

We are a thriving school in the centre of Darwen, serving the parish of St Peter’s Church.

The school is set in extensive grounds, providing the children with rich outdoor learning opportunities and fantastic views of the town and neighbouring countryside. Our forest school uses all outside areas to allow children to explore their surroundings and gain valuable independence, social and thinking skills.

Please have a look through our website to discover the wonderful things that we do at St Peter’s.

Our Christian
Values

The Christian nature of St. Peter's is an important aspect of school life. Worship in school is closely linked to the worship calendar of the Chruch so that all Christian festivals are studied and celebrated. Worship also reflects on other aspects of human faith, personal endeavour and other votable achievements.

Parent Meetings

The co-operation and participation of parents in the education of their children is positively encouraged, as we believe that such a partnership is the best way to help children to achieve in all areas of their development. We hold informative meetings for parents on various subjects throughout the school year.  These in the past have included Mathematics, Learning to read, SATs, Drugs education etc.  Each class teacher will send a ‘Big Picture’ home at the start of each term to inform you of what your child will be learning.
